In an old aristocratic house, in the early 1900s, a matriarch gives birth to a stillborn baby. At the same time, an 18 year old house maid has a newborn son to nurse. The former wants nothing more than being a mother, whilst the latter yearns for a better future. Their encounter will force them to confront their deepest desires and make a choice that will radically change their lives.
